I sent a validation letter to a collection agency and they didn't respond within 30 days. What do I do next?
How do I contact the credit reporting agencies?
The Answer : Did you send the letter by certified mail/return receipt? If not, you need to do it all over again. The collection agency will certainly deny they ever received it.If you did, then look at the link below. It has a flowchart with instructions on what you need to do. Your next step is to send a second letter to the collection agency (see the second link below). This just makes sure they got it and don't have any excuse for not responding. Also send a copy of the first letter, along with a dispute letter to the credit bureau demanding that they delete the entry from your credit report, based on "lack of validation". If they don't respond, add them to your lawsuit.
