Will filing for bankruptcy if I'm newly married hurt my spouse also?
Went to Credit Solutions to resolve my debt, but they REALLY SUCK! Now I have to appear in court next month. Any answers, people, please?
The Answer : Can't really give a good answer without more details. But generally, you are newly married so you don't have any joint accounts or debts in both names. Any debt prior to your marriage can not be put on him.Do you have a job? If so you risk having your wages garnished and whatever property you brought into the marriage attached. Is your husband employed? Good job? How is his credit rating? If you did decide to file BK you could survive off his good credit for the next several years while you rebuild your own back to health.Anyway..lots of variables here....I would suggest to visit a BK lawyer and get a consultation to see if it's the right think for you. If they are already filing for judgments against you, it may be your only option.
