How can I remove a charge off from my credit?

How can I remove a charge off from my credit?

Is there any thing i can do about my charged off account?I have a charged off account on my credit report that I paid in full, Is there anything i can do to get it removed besides wait the 7 yearsI have paid the amount in full to the United Collection Bureau and it has not been removed, changed to paid in full, payed as agreed, or paid charge off, what should i do

The Answer : By law, the collection agent is only required to show the account as "paid" or "settled for lesser amount". But note that all other negative information, like charge off's, late payments, and collections will still be there, and it's still a negative report. You fell into the trap that I have been trying to warn people about for many months.....never pay off a charge-off debt unless they agree IN WRITING to DELETE the item completely. Now you have a battle. It's very easy to get them to show that the account is paid off.....send the credit bureau a dispute letter. They will contact the collection agency, and they will either update the status, or (if no response is received back) they will delete the item. This is what you are hoping for.If it still remains on your report, you will have to contact the collection agency and try to sweet-talk them into deleting the item. Since they now have your money, you have absolutely no leverage over them. They are not required to delete it. But sometimes you find a halfway human rep that will help you out.
