NCO Credit Agency !!!

NCO Credit Agency !!!

I owe a debt that was turned over to NCO financial group to collect a debt. I contacted them in June and said I could pay in two weeks and they said to call back in July because they couldn't set up payment arrangements for the following month.

Since talking to them I have done some research and found a lot of bad things on them. Now I'm concerned. I know once its turned over to a collector you have to pay them but I wonder if there is anything else I could to avoid going through them?

The Answer : Let Me Make This Point Clear :

You have NO legal obligation to even talk to a collection agent. Your debt is with the original creditor. Therefore, you have every right to contact them and try to negotiate some sort of settlement.Whether they will work with you is another matter. Some will, and avoid the collection fees.

Others simply don't want to mess with it, that's why they sent it to collections. If that's the case, follow OC's advice. 1) Remember, collection agents will lie to their mother if they can get your money.2) Get any agreement in writing3) Demand that they delete any negative info from you credit report in exchange for payments.

Why pay this debt and still have bad credit?Go to the link below and read the excellent article on debt negotiations. Once armed with this info, you can deal with the collection agent on an even field. This link is not spam..I have nothing to do with this company...just passing along good information.
