Credit Report com ! I filed banktrupsy six years ago?
I just went on there to free credit report.com and found out my credit score is 576 and there is still some things left on there can they do that or can I have that taken off so that my credit score goes back up or am I stuck in banktrupsy hell the rest of my life.
The Answers : there are 3 major credit report companies and you'll need to write letters to each of them asking that your report be updated. it usually takes about 10-11 years for your report to clear up after a bankruptcy - here are the 3:experian, equifax and transunion - all 3 can be found online.good luck!
Answer # 2 : You can dispute the issues with the credit bureaus. If you pulled a free report, it is very easy. At the top of the page, it will say dispute. The bk will stay for at least 7 years and it does ruin your life - you should always keep a line open through bk to help establish credit afterwards. As far as them keeping it on there, it depends on which chapter you filed; dispute it! It can't hurt. I currently have a customer that filed bk in 1994. It is still showing up on their credit bureau and they are paying a lot higher rates than they should be. Bk usually drops off after 7-10 years; it can stay for up to 20 years though.

Answer # 3 : Did you file Chapter 13 or Chapter 7? It sounds like you filed Chapter 7 (to wipe away the debt)...if you filed Chapter 13, then my answer will not apply. What you need to do, is get a copy of all 3 credit reports, take out your bankruptcy paperwork, and compare these accounts line by line. The month and year the judge approved the bankruptcy, should be the time that the creditors report to the bureaus that the account was included in bankruptcy. Contact each of the credit bureaus, highlight each account that is incorrect, and mail it to the credit bureaus...and also dispute these as incorrect, as they should have been included in the bankruptcy on such-and-such date.Now...look at the end of your credit report, and make sure there is a "discharge date". This should be within about 6 months of when the bankruptcy was originally filed. If this does not appear on your credit report, contact the bankruptcy court to see if they have a copy of the discharge, if they do not, then call your attorney and have him dig it up.Your score is probably still low because accounts are being reported as open and in collections instead of included in bankruptcy...this will also be the case if there is no discharge date b/c the report is looking at it as an "open bankruptcy".Have you paid everything on time since your bankruptcy? 100%...if not, that is something else to take a look at.
Answer # 4 : The bankruptcy lawyers usually do not do you the service of showing you how to send the copy of your discharge papers to all of the credit bureaus, but that is what you need to do. They will update your report showing what has been paid, however the actual bankruptcy mark will stay on from 7 to 10 years. Also, 576 isn't that bad of a score. Just stay focused, pay your bills on time, do not have debts at greater than 50% of the available balance, and you will get where you want to go with your credit.A great book that may be of interest to you is:http://www.bankruptcymortgagebook.com/...

Answer # 5 : Your bankruptcy will remain on your report for 10 years but the farther down the road away from it the easier it gets. You can remove some things yourself but I found a site that gave me a CREDIT ATTORNEY and they got a lot of questionable things removed that I couldn't. I recommend www.1-800BadCredit.com and get the information there. It really worked for me. Good Luck!
